I read these verses again this morning in my Bible study:  2 Corinthians 1:19-20 (NIV):  19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by me and Silas and Timothy, was not Yes and No, but in him it has always been Yes.   20 For no matter how many promises God has made, they are Yes in Christ. And so through him the Amen is spoken by us to the glory of God.”

Another verse I read this weekend in a book I’m reading, that goes well with the one above is:  Numbers 23:19 (NIV):  19 God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfil?”

For someone who has experienced receiving some of His promises these verses mean so much and one of my heart’s desires is that everyone who is hoping and wishing for a baby or healing can experience the same thing – because that is also what God wants for EVERYONE!  How do I know it is for everyone?  Because of Acts 10:34 (NIV):  34 Then Peter began to speak: I now realise how true it is that God does not show favouritism.”  God wants the same things for all of us, because he does not show favouritism to anyone.

I know so many people don’t know what God’s will is, and I just want to remind everyone who is reading this to know the truth as it is written in God’s word.  Please know this is applicable to every single person on earth – it is freely available to you and all you need to do is reach out and receive it.

So what are God’s promises for everyone?

Promises of a family:

Genesis 1:28 (NIV):
“…Be fruitful and increase in number…”

Exodus 23:25-26 (NIV):  25 Worship the LORD your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away  sickness from among you, 26 and none will miscarry or be barren in your land. I will give you a full life span.”

Deuteronomy 7:13-14 (NIV):  13 He will love you and bless you and increase your numbers. He will bless the fruit of your womb, the crops of your land— your grain, new wine and oil— the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks in the land that he swore to your forefathers to give you.    14 You will be blessed more than any other people; none of your men or women will be childless, nor any of your livestock without young.”

Deuteronomy 28:1-4 (NIV):  1 If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully follow all his commands that I give you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations on earth.    2 All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the LORD your God: 3 You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country.    4 The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock— the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks.”

Psalm 92:12-15 (NIV):  12The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; 13 planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God.  14 They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, 15 proclaiming, The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”

Psalm 113:9 (NIV):  9 He settles the barren woman in her home as a happy mother of children.   Praise the LORD”

Psalm 127:3-5 (NIV):  3Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him.    4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one’s youth.    5 Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate”

Psalm 128:3 (NIV):  3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your sons will be like olive shoots round your table.”

Isaiah 60:22 NLT :  “The smallest family will become a thousand people, and the tiniest group will become a mighty nation.  At the right time, I, the Lord, will make it happen.”

Malachi 3:10-11 (NIV):  10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the LORD Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.  11 I will prevent  pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit, says the LORD Almighty.”  (“Cast their fruit before it’s time” refers, of course, to a miscarriage.” Supernatural childbirth – Jackie Mize)

1 Timothy 2:15 (NIV):  15 But women will be saved through childbearing— if they continue in faith, love and holiness with  propriety.”

John 16:23 (NIV):  23 In that day you will no longer ask me anything. I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.”

1 John 5:14-15 (NIV):  14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.   15 And if we know that he hears us— whatever we ask— we know that we have what we asked of him.”

Isaiah 61:7 (NIV):  7Instead of their shame my people will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace they will rejoice in their inheritance; and so they will inherit a double portion in their land, and everlasting joy will be theirs.”

Job 42:10 (NIV):  10 After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD made him prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had before.”

Zechariah 9:12 (NIV):  12 Return to your fortress, O prisoners of hope; even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you.”

Luke 1:45 (AMP): “And blessed (happy, [a]to be envied) is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of the things that were spoken to her from the Lord.”

John 20:29:  “… Blessed and happy and to be envied are those who have never seen Me and yet have believed and adhered to and trusted and relied on Me.”

My mom has deteriorated so much in 2 days it’s unbelievable.  On Friday I spent the whole day with her, my sister and my cousin J were also there with my dad, and although she could not walk much she could still talk to us.  Thursday night two ureteric stents were placed between her kidneys and her bladder and she got a catheter in the hope that it would help with the swelling.

This morning my mom could not speak anymore and she can barely move her arms.  She cannot feed herself anymore and they took out the catheter and she’s on adult nappies now.  When I said earlier this week that my mom was thin I could not believe that she can get any thinner, but at the moment har face is so sunken in that you basically just see eyes and teeth when she opens her mouth.  I was able to encircle her upper arm with my thumb and index finger, so thin is her arms.  She looks like she is just skin and bones in her upper body, yet her abdomen and legs are more than double what they normally were.  She needs oxygen to help her breathe and later in the day it even seemed she could not swallow her food anymore.  I cannot explain to you how drastic she has deteriorated in 2 days.  It is incredibly scary, and my poor dad could barely sleep last night because he kept on expecting the hospital to phone with bad news.

We still don’t know what is going on – why she is so sick and deteriorating so much.  I don’t even know if the doctors know, and they don’t really tell us much.  As far as I can tell they have only given my mom some pain medication, some more blood and some medication for the swelling, and she is still deteriorating.  I cannot see how they can save my mom’s live with what they are doing.

My only hope is with God – I know He can and wants to heal my mom.  But it is so hard to believe for healing if you see your own mom looking so bad.  I need help here, please, please believe with me for healing for my mom.  That is all I can trust in at the moment…

An Update On Shumi:

Shumi hasn’t been doing so well lately.  He’s had a lot of snot which blocked up his nose completely and because of that he’s been having trouble sleeping.  Because he doesn’t sleep well he is tired all the time, also he breathes better standing up, so he’s been falling asleep on his feet, and collapsing every now and then.   He’s lost a lot of weight too…

I tried to keep my faith strong, but when everyone tells you he seems to be declining its hard…  On Thursday I was getting desperate and I convinced DH to take Shumi back to the vet that took the x-rays last year.  I have to admit I was hoping and believing that Shumi would be miraculously healed by the time the x-rays would be taken, just like the 10 leprous men in the Bible who had to show themselves to the priest (Luke 17:12-19.)

That unfortunately did not happen.  But the vet was incredibly surprised to see that Shumi was still alive.   He checked his palate for soft spots and his face for lumps and there was nothing.  Apparently these kinds of  tumours grow through bone and will weaken the palate and make it soft, and grow to the outside and make visible lumps, but Shumi has nothing of this.  That encouraged us a lot.

Later the vet told us the tumour is still there, on the left side of his face deep inside his nose or nasal cavities, and it is bigger than last year. He tried to tell us it is bad news, but we just couldn’t see it that  way.  In 9 months the tumour has grown, but Shumi should have been dead a long time already, according to what I have read up on the internet and both the vets’ opinions.  The soft palate and the lumps on his face have not manifested, so we see this still as a miracle.  DH is as a matter of fact convinced that there might be a tumour, but that the cancer is dead.

I was so touched by one of our neighbours – they live close to us and this couple is one of those that Shumi and KT visit often.  While Shumi was still at the vet, they noticed he wasn’t home. They missed him, because he usually greets them when they come home.   So just before we left to go fetch Shumi they saw me and called me over.

The lady said that they have discussed matters and that they love Shumi so much, that he has been such a pleasure to them that if the vet should ever suggest any expensive treatments they will pay half of the cost – no matter what it would cost…  She had tears in her eyes when she said this to me…  Then she begged me that we must never move away, because she will just miss Shumi too much…

Shumi is such a gentle, loving dog that everybody just loves him.  This couple are not the only ones – there are people living with us in this estate that don’t like dogs at all, but everyone loves Shumi.  Everyone wants to know how he is doing and is worried about him.

I saw our vet yesterday, (the side of KT’s mouth was completely swollen, we think she was stung by some kind of insect) and they were also upset that Shumi’s tumour had grown.  They seem to think he might be nearing the end, but they haven’t seen him in quite some time.

People just cannot seem to understand that we still have hope for complete healing. Yes, we haven’t had complete success yet, but I dare say that we have had some success.  Coupled with the miracle of our pregnancy we still have a lot of hope.  We will not give up.  I know God wants Shumi healed, and that He
has done everything that needed to be done. Something is hindering complete healing, but I really believe that the course of the disease has been slowed dramatically, and we just need to get ourselves ready to receive the full healing.

I have always believed that I would be healed first (I might have been limiting God again,) because I felt that all the problems I’ve had were less severe than cancer.   So I’m still searching to learn more, so that Shumi can be healed completely. I hope the Holy Spirit will guide me to the right teaching or revelation soon! We need a second miracle now!

1st Blogoversary

A year ago I started this blog.  I felt compelled to write for a few months before that, but what I wrote just didn’t seem to work.  One day I decided to just start a blog – I didn’t know anything about blogging, but I searched online and got started.  I chose a title from the common underlying message of about 2 posts that I wanted to write.  I thought “Keeping my eyes on Jesus” would be a good title.  I never realized at that stage how appropriate it would be, because that is basically all I have done since then.  Every day I turned to Jesus to help me, especially through the hard times, and He has been so faithful!  He has helped me so much!  I have learnt so much and that is all thanks to our Almighty Lord!

So much has happened in the past year, and yet it feels like I’m in the exact same space I was a year ago.  I still don’t have a baby, I’m not even pregnant.  But I have grown a lot and especially spiritually and I’m really grateful for that.  I am in a much better place emotionally than I was a year ago.  These days I am happy and I’ve realized that I can be happy even if we never have children.  My happiness is not dependant on that anymore.  I still get some sad times, like earlier this week when DH sat with my dear friend R’s little baby girl of 19 months, then I think that he would be such a great dad, and I would love to see him being a dad.  R said she cannot believe how much her little girl likes my DH, as she generally doesn’t like men much, she sometimes cries when she sees the dads of the other kids who come to drop off or pick them up at daycare.   But not with my DH – he picks her up and she will sit with him and talk baby talk with him and she would walk off and come back with little presents to give to him.  It’s so cute!

I still have hope that we can have a baby of our own, and as a matter of fact, although I’m not pregnant yet, I do feel a lot better than what I used to.  Just over a year ago I was eventually diagnosed with adenomyosis and what I always thought was pain due to endometriosis was eventually explained.  Some months the pain was so bad that it felt like the AF pain never stopped after AF and just continued straight through until the next AF.  That pain returned a few months after my miscarriage, but when I started to believe that I could be healed it went away and I haven’t had it again.

I used to have lots of problems with spotting before AF was supposed to start and after my miscarriage it was worse than ever.  That has almost completely stopped, it was nothing 2 months ago, and a few drops this past month (it used to start 2-3 dys before AF).  My periods are a lot lighter than normal and I have the minimum pain – I haven’t had a pain pill for months and I used to live on those for at least the first 3 days of AF.  At one stage I was convinced that I never ovulated, these days I can feel the ovulation pains, some months on both sides, but usually only on 1 side.  Ovulation can be anything from day 12 to day 17, so my period lengths vary, but the lutual phase seems to be about 13 days.  It used to be 11-12 days so that is also better.  But the most amazing thing is the fact that I have been completely healed from my depression.  A while ago I remembered how I used to feel and I realized it’s been months since I was depressed and I never had 1 pill or even saw a councillor or psychologist, psychiatrist or anyone like that!

So I do believe a lot of healing has already taken place and I’m sure I’m getting better and better by the day.  I will continue to keep my eyes on Jesus, no matter what!

Hebrews 12:1-3 (NIV):  1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.  2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.  3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”

These verses sum up what I felt like in the last year:  By keeping my eyes fixed on Jesus I was able to run with perseverance and in the times that I did get weary and lost heart He helped me out of that situation, sometimes so quickly I still struggle to believe it!  This is becoming a way of life for me now and I’m sure things will just get better and better!

Thank you all for your messages of comfort with my last post.  I really am blessed by the people that read this blog.  And I must say God blesses me even more and I just want to share that with you.  I received “bad news” on Tuesday, but I did not see it as bad news.  I didn’t get upset or depressed or anything like that.  Why?  Because God is faithful and good.  God has comforted me so much with messages of hope all week long, that I cannot doubt that all this will work out for good.  I trust God completely.

That just shows you how much I have grown in the last few months.  There were times when I was frantic with worry, where I tried to make plans of my own to try and control the outcome of my own, Shumi’s, my mom’s or anyone else’s health…  Now I’m not even tempted to do that because I know they have been healed already.  The price was paid in full about 2000 years ago.  Nothing more can be done.  I am just waiting for proof of that healing.  I am waiting for God to complete the work He has started in us.  And I am waiting in anticipation!

I want to share some scriptures with you that have encouraged me so far this week.

1 John 4:17 (Amp):  17In this [union and communion with Him] love is brought to completion and attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him], because as He is, so are we in this world.”

Hebrews 11:6 (Amp):  6But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out].”

The message that I basically heard this week was:  “never give up, be determined, keep strong in your faith and God will reward you for that.”

Now how can one get discouraged with that?

My mom says her meeting with the new Radiologist (I think that is what he is called) went well, he thinks she might only have to get 10 or maybe 15 treatments and not 25 as the Oncologist suggested.  It sounds like he has experience with this specific problem my mom has and she has a lot more confidence in this new doctor than the previous one.  It also seems this doctor gets quite a lot of patients that switch from my mom’s previous doctor to him.

My mom will be monitored after a few treatments to see how she responds and the treatment will be adjusted accordingly.  (Something that the other doctor never did)  Obviously my mom is happy, because it seems better than originally suggested.  Also she will begin with treatment soon, last time she had to wait about 2 months before they could fit her into their schedule, and with this doctor it won’t take so long.  She has one appointment on Monday already to start the planning process and she will hopefully find out then when they will actually start with the treatments.

Last time my mom went for radiation she went from Monday to Friday for 5 consecutive weeks, and I think this time will be the same except it will hopefully only be 2 or 3 weeks.

I am not worried at all; I am confident all will go well and that God is in charge!  Jesus holds the keys to death and I know he will not allow the devil to kill my mom, “G” or Shumi…

I have mentioned before that I have watched messages, or heard messages and it felt like they were spoken directly to me.  Well the following one from Joy.ce Mey.er was one of those.  Not only that, the day I heard the message, she quoted some scriptures in her message that I read during my bible study that very morning and they spoke to my heart already during my Bible study.  So naturally I had to take notice and I want to share it with you.  I think I will have to break it up in two posts because it’s going to be long…

“All tied up in with Who God is, is what we can expect Him to do.  The word revelation is very important for this conference – we don’t need lots of information – we need revelation.  We need to know that we know, that we know, in such a deep way that no circumstance could ever take it away from us.  When you really know that God loves you that no matter what happens you never doubt the love of God because it’s a revelation in your life.

Ephesians 1:17-19 (NIV):  17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.  18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength,”

Paul prayed for the church that they would have wisdom and revelation to know God, not to know about God, but to KNOW God.  I (Joy.ce) don’t think we can ever begin to imagine how awesome that is to be able to say:  I know God!  You know we think it’s something big to say we know some famous person.  You should see people’s reaction when they meet me (Joy.ce) in real life.  They say things like:  “I cannot wait to tell my sister – she won’t believe that I met you!”

If she could get that excited over just seeing me (Joy.ce) – how excited should we get about knowing God?  So Paul said I want you to have revelation about knowing God.  Further he said I want you to have revelation about the hope of your calling – we want to make hope a habit in our lives.  Everybody say:  I’m addicted to hope.  And he said I want you to have the hope of your calling and the inheritance that is yours in Christ which means:  Paul said I want you to have revelation of what is yours in Christ.  What is yours – not what you’re trying to get but what is yours.  Then lastly he said I want you to have revelation about the power that is in and for us.  And it’s the same power by the way that raised Christ from the dead.  And if that power that raised Him from the dead dwells in us, the Bible says that it should quicken our mortal bodies

We are going to talk specifically about some of what is ours in Christ.  Off course I could stay here a year to get all of it and then I would only have scratched the surface.  Now – How can we know God?  Number 1:  we can know Him through His word.  You have to know the word of God.  If you are not going to study, study, study the word of God you can forget knowing God.  You can’t know God in the way we are talking about, just if you know somebody that knows God.  Don’t be satisfied with second hand faith.  Have your own walk with God.  We can know God through His promises and we need to take every promise personally.  We need to know what God expects of us, and there are things He expects of us.  Number 1:  first and foremost He expects us to believe.  Not believe and then doubt and then believe a little and then doubt and then believe and then doubt a little, but to believe!

John 11:40 (NIV):  40 Then Jesus said, Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?”

So no matter what you’re going through – your job is not to fix it – it’s to believe. Just believe that God is working, no matter what you feel like, no matter what you see – if you have prayed and trusted God and you have found a promise in the word that says that God will take care of it then you’re position now is to believe.  It may feel like nothing is happening but I can assure you that something is happening.  And then we also need to know – part of knowing God is we need to know what to expect from God.   You know Dave and I marvel – we are now married 43 years – and we are pressing towards 44 – We know what to expect out of each other.  I can tell you before he does it, what he is going to do in a given situation, and he can tell the same thing about me.

Well, we need to know that about God.  We need to know His character and we need to know what to expect. I want to talk to you about your expectations.  Now I think we expect God to forgive our sins – most of us who have any knowledge at all of what it means to be a Christian – we hopefully, prayerfully have that one down – that we expect God to forgive our sins.  But sometimes I think it stops there – What else are you expecting God to do for you on a daily basis.  Or are you just passive and kind of just going:  “O, I don’t know!  I’ll wait and see…”

I have learnt over the years to have expectations every single day of my life and I verbalize those expectations.  That is part of my prayer time.  People say:  “You know when I spend time with God I don’t know what to do.”  Well one of the things you need to do is tell God what you are expecting, and I’m not saying in a sarcastic or a demanding kind of way, it’s like saying:  God this is what you said that you will do and I am expecting you to do it because I know you are a Person of your word.  And that honours God, so you say:  “I am expecting You to give me favour everywhere that I go today because I am your child.”    Not driving to work and thinking:  “I’m expecting to be treated like a dog today because I’m just the bottom of the barrel here!”  And even if that’s been your experience in the past You can turn that around, you don’t have to wait for someone else to come along and make you happy.  You can turn it around by getting into agreement with God and out of agreement with the devil.

So what are you expecting from God.  I want us to look at 2 scriptures:
Psalm 26:1 (NIV):  Of David.1 Vindicate me, O LORD, for I have led a blameless life; I have trusted in the LORD without wavering.” David said I’ve done my best to do the right thing now, I’m expecting You to move in my life.  And I love this one – let’s look at Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV):  13I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.  14 Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD”

Now we see the words wait on God in the Bible and the word wait literally means to expect – if you study that word in the Greek it means to long for, to look for expectantly, you are expecting God to show up at any minute, you are expecting your breakthrough today, you are expecting your unsaved loved ones to hear the right word and come home and tell you:  I have received Christ.  Expecting your physical healing, expecting to get that job that you need.  You are not just passively shrugging your shoulders and saying:  I’m just waiting on God…  That is not waiting on God! That is some pitiful pathetic, giving up!  Waiting on God gives you hope and it gives you expectancy and God said:  When you put your hope in me your will never be disappointed or put to shame.”

Psalm 18:28-36 (NIV):  28 You, O LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.  29 With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall.  30As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.  31 For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God?  32 It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.  33 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights.  34 He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze.  35 You give me your shield of victory, and your right hand sustains me; you stoop down to make me great.  36 You broaden the path beneath me, so that my ankles do not turn over.”

I cannot even begin to tell you how much God has helped me the last couple of months.  From being hopeless, sad and depressed to hopeful, happy and joyous!  The above verses describe how God can change your life so beautifully!  I found it the other day while doing Bible study and I thought:  “Yes!  That’s what God does for me!”

But let me tell you it is not as easy as a “feeling” that comes over you whenever God is near or when He takes pity on you.  No, I had to look for comfort and strength in His Word.  God is always near, but we don’t always “feel” it.  We have to “know” what God does, and the only way that can happen is to know God, and that means learning by reading the Bible or looking for messages of hope and comfort.  Those messages do not always find you.  Let me tell you there were days where I felt so hopeless and despondent that I had to look for a message of hope from God.  Sometimes it even took days to find it!

I have found that there are wonderful “secrets” in the Bible that were not always evident to me.  I’ve learnt so much in the last couple of months that I can’t believe I didn’t know it before, because I have read the whole Bible through from cover to cover before.  But the other night I watched a program from Joy.ce Mey.er and she talked about revelation and that it only comes from the Holy Spirit, and then I realized that was what made the difference – I have had revelation about a lot of things that I didn’t understand before.  Before those words didn’t mean anything to me, now I know what they mean!  I’m not saying I didn’t have revelation at all – there were times when I got a revelation, but it didn’t happen as frequently, because I was not actively seeking it.

Ephesians 3:9 (NIV):  9 and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things.”

1 Corinthians 2:9 (NIV):  9 However, as it is written:  No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him—“

Matthew 13:11-13 (NIV):  11 He replied, The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them.  12 Whoever has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.  13 This is why I speak to them in parables:  Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.”

Do you remember the healing service we went to?  Well Pastor A talked about the secrets in the Bible.  He mentioned the above verses, and although I knew what he meant, I couldn’t even fathom what a difference it would make in my life to actually learn so much in such a short time!  The good news about these secrets is that it is available to all – God is no respecter of persons – he has no favourites and He wants us all to live a life of victory.  To share in the victory of Jesus Christ!  It is available to all; we must just be willing to put in some effort from our side!

But let me tell you – even though I have shared most of those revelations with you, unless you don’t get revelation on it yourself it might not mean much to you. O, I pray that the Holy Spirit gives revelation to all who read this blog, because I wish you all could experience what I’ve experienced lately!  I have certainly shared in the revelations of others and I have mentioned them all on this blog, so my wish for you all is that you can also have revelation about everything that affects your life!

But just a note of warning:  Revelation won’t help a thing if you don’t apply what you learn.  It is not just enough to “know” something – you have to act on it as well.
